The Santo Niño has new shoes!
Shoes for the Santo Niño has a sold out premiere in Albuquerque!
Stephen, Patty and Erik traveled to Albuquerque this past weekend for the premiere of the new children's opera based on the story by New Mexico author Peggy Pond Church. Stephen and librettist Andrea Fellows Walters have written a wonderful new opera for children's chorus with 2 Trebles, Mezzo-soprano, Baritone and Tenor Soloists, and a small chamber ensemble. The story of Julianita, the youngest of eleven, and her magical night journey with the young Santo Niño has been beautifully adapted into a new work for the season.
Stephen's glittering chamber score is a lively setting of Andrea Fellows Walters' bilingual libretto, and it came to life in simply wonderful performances December 16th - 18th at The National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Additional performances take place in Santa Fe January 6 & 7 in honor of the centennial of statehood for New Mexico.
